• research provides brilliant insight into behaviour of patients but very reliant on interpretation of researcher
• memory of group leaders may be inaccurate as they don’t recall notes till afterwards so if they recall inaccurately conclusions are unreliable or invalid
• small sample unlikely to represent target population
