  • Small head (when checking OFC)

A

baby may have low blood sugar, blood sugars should be monitored. Check documentation. Breastfeeding is not affected and no side effects noted.

A

Due to IVF, dad’s history may not be available
If it is and dad is a sickle cell carrier, there is a higher chance for baby. Therefore, referral to Genetic counselling along with fetal medicine support.

Signs of sickle cells in babies.

  • Weakness in arm and legs
  • Facial droop
  • Loss of consciousness

Moxibustion is safe for pregnant women and best started at 33-34 weeks, moxa stick stimulate heat receptors on the skin of the toes to encourage oestrogen and prostaglandins stimulating contractions

Appears jaundice, complete SBR and inform the paeds to inform them that you have done this and to be aware to review it. Also inform them of your feeding plan ask if they agree and if they would change or add anything?

Clotrimazole for thrush - Generally considered safe to use during breastfeeding. if baby is being treated for oral thrush, mum needs to be treated too. By applying the cream to nipples after a feed. It is safe during pregnancy.
