What are the risk factors of a meibomian cyst?

A

Chronic blepharitis
Seborrhoeic dermatitis
Rosacea
Pregnancy
Diabetes
Hypercholesterolaemia

How does chalazion present?

A

Firm, painless eyelid swelling which develops over weeks
More common on upper eyelid
Granuloma seen when eyelid is everted
No changes to vision unless severe

What is the treatment for chalazion?

A

Hot compresses and analgesia
Refer if does not improve/resolve after 4 weeks
Manage risk factors
