Basic building blocks for all living things, they can be specialised to carry out different functions
Define tissue
Formed when cells with similar specialisations carry out a common function
Define organs
Formed when two or more tissues work together
List the 7 life processes
Define movement
Brought on by muscles. Most cells don’t move
Define Reproduction
Humans reproduce by Sexual reproduction by a sperm and an egg
Define Responsiveness
Sensitivity inside and out, keeping the body functioning normally
Define feeding
There are three types
Ingestion- taking food and drink into by the mouth
Digestion- the breakdown of food
Absorption- digestion of food in the blood
Define Respiration
Energy released from food.
Cellular respiration is the chemical reaction in cells
Define Excretion
Removal of waste
Nitrogenous waste- toxic waste by the kidneys
Urine- hormones, drugs, salts and other chemicals by the kidneys
Define growth
Increase in size (doesn’t occur evenly)
Development- gradual change of the body proportion
