Inheritance
Most cases are not inherited. Condition is caused by trisomy 21, the chromosomes abnormality occurs as a random event during the formation of a reproductive cell in a parent. Usually occurs in the sperm cell. An error in cell division called nondisjunction results in a reproductive cell with 47 chromosomes in total
