Fire- Rated Doors
A fire-door assembly is defined as a door assembly that has been tested by an independent laboratory to determine that it is capable of withstanding a measured temperature without failing for a specific length of time.
- Assembly consists of door, frame, and hardware used on door and frame
- Classification stated in hours or minutes
20-minute rated door in 1-hour rated corridor, ¾-hour rated door in 1-hour exit passageway or 1-hour partition, and 1-1/2-hour in 2-hour exit enclosure most common
- Rated assemblies must be labeled
- Permanent identifying mark attached to door/frame
- Must not be removed or painted over during in construction
