Client inquires stock with their investment advisor who give them the buy and ask prices. they contact the market where another investment advisor has also put in a sell or buy order.

How does settlement work?
A
once the transaction has occurred. the buyer and seller will each receive a conformation and they must settle the transaction. settlement date is 3 days after transaction

what are different types of buy and sell orders?
A
Market orders, limit orders, day orders good till canceled orders all or none orders and any part orders good through orders stop loss and stop buy orders pro orders

A
If a client and a professionals order are competing client orders always get priority to be executed
