They are just simple academic definitions of class and people will identify being in a class that is not inline with these academic objectives

The fact that they arent 100% inlighned with a class and therefore are the easist to convince as they are undecided so the main parties would taylor their election manifestos towards these groups of voters based on class identity
What are the three reason swhy class used to be strongly associated with voting trends?
1) It was a part of someones class identity - so upper and middle class were known to spport conservatives and the party normally labour who voted the working class
2)Both major parties developed deep strong roots within communities so there was a culture for voting for one party - the commuter belt of london = conservatives and east = labour due to their stong assoctiations with trade unions
3)There was a selfish reason - what party depending on betering your class the most

It has declined rapidy, it hasnt disapeared but it is certainly less pronocuded
