The United Nations was established in October 24, 1945. It started as the Atlantic Charter. Every Member represented a different Country and it had a general assembly as well as a security council of 5 permenant members.

The development of the cold war began with the difference of Duplicity in Soviet union and Capitalism in US. It was also a race to become the worlds greatest Super Power, and Nuclear country. The cold war continued to get worse with the Zones in Germany.
US Influence in the West and the Creation of NATO(Ezra)
The US influence in the west was mainly through the Zones of Berlin, Airlift, Marshall Plan, Truman Doctrine, and the US containment policy which all led to the establishment of NATO in 1949. The NATO included all members besides the Soviet Union.
Truman Doctrine(Ezra)
The Truman Doctrine also egged on the Soviets as it aided Democratic European countries by helping them politically, economically, and militarily against the Soviet Communism. Greece and Turkey were the main recipients to fight of Authoritarian Soviet Communism.
Marshall Plan(Ezra)
The Marshall Plan or European Recovery Plan was a US lead plan that gave $13 Billion to European states for post war recovery it aided 16 European countries and stopped the spread of Soviet Communism.
U.S. Containment Policy(Ezra)
The US containment Policy was against Russia and the spread of Communism. It was formulated by George Kennan and it was a key part of the cold war bringing the US out of Isolationism and into the role as helper of economic recovery for European states.
Berlin Blockade and Airlift(Ezra)
The Berlin Blockade was built by the Russians when there was a disagreement on how Germany should be split leading to the airlift of supplies by the western states to eastern Germany to keep them alive and well.
Soviet Influence on Eastern Europe(Felix)
Soviet Union closely watched over Easter Europe and installed communist states to create a buffer zone between them and the capitalist West Europe. They invested in their economies, influenced their politics, and gave Soviet weapons.
Globalization of the Cold War in Korea & Vietnam(Felix)
The rivalry between capitalism and communism became more global in under-developed areas like Africa and Asia, with different regimes fighting civil wars. The U.S. intervened in the Korean and Vietnamese Wars to prevent a domino effect of the rest of Asia falling to Communism and under the influence of the Soviet Union.
Berlin Wall(Felix)
The wall separated Communist East Berlin and Capitalist West Berlin. Built mostly to stop the migration of East Berliners to West Berlin, torn down in 1989.
Cuban Missile Crisis(Felix)
A very close situation where the world almost got encompassed in nuclear war. Started by U.S. putting nuclear missiles in Turkey for defense, Soviet Union responded by putting nuclear missiles in Cuba. Negotiations eventually started up again between Khrushchev and Kennedy, getting rid of the tensions.
Decolonization(Felix)
After the exhaustive efforts by European countries after WW2, many countries began this process to save money and their colonies gained their independence through peaceful resolutions or violent wars.
The Eastern Bloc(Felix)
The section of Eastern Europe under control and influence of the Soviet Union. Usually communist countries, but Albania and Yugoslavia were mostly independent.

The re-growth after WW2 brought the idea of a country based on a welfare state, where citizens have social security, good transportation, and nationalized banks and industries. Supported by decolonization as it required lots of money.

The Treaty of Rome was a treaty that the six nations in the ECSC signed making the EEC, European Economic Community, which made a free trading space for all of the six countries causing all of there economies to expand and do better.
