(Prolonged exaggeration of the glottic closure reflex d/t stimulation of the SLN)

  1. PPV (Apply the facemask on the patient with a very tight seal. 100% FiO2, close your APL valve to about 40cm H2O. Do NOT squeeze the bag - wait for them to breathe)
  2. Larson’s Maneuver (Behind the lobule of the pinna of each ear- forcible jaw thrust with bilateral digital pressure resolves the spasm by clearing airway and stimulation. Apply for 3-5 seconds, the release for 5-10 seconds while maintaing tight seal with the facemask)
  3. **If it doesnt work, then succinylcholine 10-20mg (0.5-1ml bc 20mg/ml)

Can give atropine, propofol, succinylcholine

(Can give Lidocaine according to another student)
