1. Draw a table with headings for each place value: 8, 4, 2, and 1
2. Work out if the denary number fits into each heading number. (If yes - write a 1 and take the remaining value to the next heading) (if no - write a 0 and take the whole number to the next heading)
   Repeat steps using the remaining value and the next heading
