Q

Identify the different types of MAGTF

A

MEF: marine expeditionary force unit. Largest. 40-50k. Can maintain fully sustained for 60 days
MEB: marine expeditionary brigade. Brigadier general and staff already imbedded into a MEF CE. 16,500 personnel and can sustain for 30 days.
MEU: marine expeditionary unit. Most responsive but least combat power. Sea based on navy ARG. 2,200 personnel. Continued presence globally.
MEF (FWD): lead echelon for MEF, led by deputy MEF commander. Used in situations where MAGTF has nearly all assets as a full MEF but scaled back due to mission requirements or other restraints.
SPMAGTF: MAGTF temporarily formed to consist a specific mission for which other type would be inappropriate or unavailable. Organized and equipped only to conduct a specific mission. Not the full range of military operations. Could be from a non deploying marfor, or formed on a contingency basis from already deployed MAGTF. (Like for hadr, or neo)

Q

Identify the theater and sub theater level Air Force components (AFFOR as part is the joint force)

A

Theater: established an Air Force component at the CCMD/CCDR level, attached with specification of operation control (OPCON) and commanded by a theater COMAFFOR, who the CCDR will normally also designate as the theater JFACC.
Sub theater: 2 different possibilities. A subordinate unified command or a joint task force (JTF). Air Force component at subordinate unified command will be assigned or attached as an AETF (JTF) and will include a COMAFOR prepared to execute as a JFACC over assigned and attached joint forces.

Protect the interests of the US in space. Deter aggression in from and to space. Conduct space operations

17
Q

Space operations command (SpOC)

A

SpOC is the primary force provider of space forces and capabilities for combatant commanders (CCDR), coalition partners, the joint force, and the nation.
Dual hatted. Serves as USSF’s primary force provider while also serving as USSPACECOM’s space service component

18
Q

Describe primary function of Theater Air Control System (TACS)

A

Air Force theater air control system (TACS): the commander of the Air Force forces (COMAFFOR) mechanism for commanding and controlling component air and space power. Consists of airborne and ground elements conduction tailored C2 of air and space ops including air defense (AD), and airspace control.

19
Q

Describe primary function of Army Air Ground System (AAGS)

A

The army’s control system for synchronizing, coordinating, and integrating air operations with the commanders scheme of maneuver, or Concept of Operations (CONOPS).
Provides framework for initiating and processing Air Support Requests (AIRSUPREQ), collection requirements, airspace integrating, Army indirect fires, joint fires, air and missile defense (AMD), and exchange of liaisons.

20
Q

Describe the primary Army Forces (ARFOR) liaison in the joint air ops center (JAOC)

A

Battlefield coordination detachment (BCD). Represents ARFOR to the supporting air component. Primary interface between the commander army forces (COMARFOR) and JAOC. collocated w JFACC’s senior air ops control agency.
Primary mission is to facilitate the synchronization of air operations with army ground ops through coordination of air support and exchange of operational and intelligence data.

21
Q

Primary function of Navy Tactical Air Control System (NTACS)

A

Organizational structure within which the commander of the amphibious force (CAF) executes air operations in the amphibious objective area (AOA)

22
Q

Describe functions of the navy and amphibious liaison element (NALE)

A

Primary responsibility is to represent maritime component commander (MCC) and is responsive to the JAOC on matters pertaining to Navy and Marine Amphibious ops. Provides necessary interface for exchange of current operational and intelligence data between components and the JAOC

23
Q

Primary function of Marine Air Command and Control system (MACCS)

A

Provides ACE commander with the means to monitor, supervise, and influence the application of Marine aviation in support of MAGTF operations.

24
Q

Responsibilities of the marine liaison element (MARLE)

A

MARLE in the JAOC works for the MAGTF commander. (Represents them). Interface between MAGTF and JFACC. Coordinates air support to joint force and air ops in support of MAGTF

25
Primary function of Special Ops Air Ground System (SOAGS)
Is the SOF C2 system that integrates, synchronizes, and deconflicts supporting joint fires and ISR assets
26
Describe Special Ops Force liaison element that supports the JAOC
SOLE- Special Ops Liaison Element. Liaison to the JFACC or a service component air C2 organization. Joint team responsible for coordinating, deconflicting, and synchronizing SO air, surface, and subsurface ops w conventional air ops by placing SOF air, land, and maritime liaison personnel in the AOC. Tailored for operation. Reports to JFSOCC. Represents senior SOF commander at the AOC
27
