Day 7 Flashcards

(11 cards)

1
Q

Distinguish between electromagnetic attack, support, and protection

A

EA: em directed energy, antiradiation wpns to attack personnel, facilities or operational capability. Prevents/ reduced enemy’s use of EMS.
Detect deny disrupt deception destruction. Lethal or non lethal. Jamming

ES: identifies and locates energy signals emitted from threats. Can be correlated w other ISR info to provide more accurate electromagnetic order of battle.

EP: actions taken to protect personnel, facilities, and equipment from any effects of friendly, neutral or enemy use of EMS. Frequency agility, changing PRF, EMCON, low observable tech, GPS signal protection measures

Q

Explain the purpose of the space support request (SSR)

A

A mechanism for requesting space capability. Coordinate with SCA for filling out SSR. CSpOC coordinates and approve support tasking via CSTO (if req), assessment/feedback

Q

describe the CO missions (cyberspace operations)

A

DODIN, DCO, OCO
DODIN: dod information network. Dod owned or leased networks and info systems. Mx and design, building, configure, secure, operate and maintain and sustain DOD communications systems and networks to preserve availability, integrity, confidentiality as well as user/entity authentication and nonrepudiation.
DCO: defensive. Passive and active CO intended to preserve the ability to utilize friendly cyberspace capabilities and protect data networks, etc. maintain freedom of action in cyberspace and to engage and defeat full range of cyberspace threats
OCO: project power by application of force in or through cyberspace ops to disrupt, deny, degrade, or destroy an adversary’s use of cyberspace.

Q

Describe cognitive, informational, and physical dimensions that comprise IE (informational environment)

A

Physical: C2 systems, key decision makers, and supporting infrastructure that enable individuals and organizations to conduct operations and creat effects.
Informational: specifies where and how information is collected processed stored disseminated displayed and protected. It is where c2 of modern military forces is exercised abcs where commanders intent is conveyed.
Cognitive: main focus. Encompasses minds of those who transmit, receive, respond to or act on information. While adversaries cognitive processing cannot be directly attacked, the information and physical dimensions can.

Q

Distinguish the info related capabilities (IRC) of military info support (MISO), military deception (MILDEC), and operational security (OPSEC)

A

MISO: planned ops to convey selected info and indicated to foreign audiences to influence emotions, motives, objective reasoning and ultimately the behavior of foreign gov, org, groups and individuals to favor originator objectives.
MILDEC: actions to deliberately mislead adversary military, parliament, or non violent extremist org decision makes, thereby cause adversary to take specifications or interactions to contribute to accomplish friendly mission. Also tactical deception and deception in support of opsec (TAC-D, DISO)
OPSEC: process id, analyze critical info and friendly actions related to military ops or other activities and execution measures that eliminate and reduce to acceptable level the vulnerabilities of friendly actions to adversary exploitation
