Definition of Octa?
Octa is a unit of measure to describe the cloud cover in a given location. 1 Octa = 1/8 of the sky in a given location covered in cloud.
Give the octa scale.
0: Sky clear (SKC)
1-2: Few (FEW)
3-4: Scattered (SCT)
5-7: Broken (BKN)
8: Overcast (OVC)
How to measure cloud base?
Always round down!
Below 5000ft in steps of 100ft
Above 5000ft in steps of 1000ft
Always 1st layer and the following layer of 3 or more Octa.

What is Danger Close?
A term used to inform GFC’s, FDC’s and aircrews of the proximity of the intended weapon impact point to the closest friendly forces. Someone is in danger close distance of a weapons impact point if the probability of incapacitation is 0.1% of higher.
