Mechanism of Action
Slows the RVR associated with atrial fib and atrial flutter, Inhibits calcium ion influx across cell membranes during cardiac depolarization
Indications and Field Use
RVR associated with a fib and a flutter, and for SVT refractory to adenosine.
Contraindications
Hypotension, Acute MI, Cardiogenic Shock, Wide complex tachycardia, heart blocks, WPW, SSS, Beta Blocker use (only IV)
Adult Dosage
.25mg/kg IVP (usually 20mg) administered over 2 min, if no response MR in 15min .35mg/kg IV over 2 minutes
