Dramatic irony
When the audience knows something that the characters on stage don’t.
Foreshadowing
Hints of what is to come in the action of a play or story.
Juxtaposition
Two things placed side-by-side to highlight their differences.
Microcosm
A small representation of a society/ group of people.
Monologue
A long speech made by a single character without another character’s response. Think ‘one-man show’, or your teacher when you aren’t engaging and they just keep talking at you.
Soliloquy
Internal dialogue spoken out loud.
