A
Bundles of optical fibres.
Make it possible to send light to and receive it back from places that would otherwise be inaccessible

How endoscope forms image
A
Lens at both ends:
- Tiny objective lens at distal end of endoscope
- Each fibre in bundle collects and carries light for one pixel (colour dot) in the image
- Eye piece lens at operator end takes light exiting from fibre bundles and refocuses it to view images
