How are the segments different than the previous phyla?

A
  • Chelicerata: Segments: 2 main fused body regions (Cephalothorax (prosoma) – head and thorax fused together, Abdomen (opisthosoma)), The original segments are fused into these two large sections, so you don’t clearly see many small segments externally.
  • Tardigrada: Segments: 4 distinct body segments, Each segment typically has a pair of stubby legs, Segments are not fused into large regions like in arthropods
