  • simple eyes

  • 1 pair of appendages is modified into chelicerae (pincer-like mouthparts)
  • 2 segments (cephalothorax and abdomen)
  • no antennae
    Class Merostomata - horseshoe crabs
    • larva look like a trilobite
      Class Arachnida - spiders, mites, ticks, daddy longlegs, scorpions
    • all appendages on the thorax
