What does aldosterone do?
Acts on the kidneys to remove sodium from the renal tubes and return it to the blood
Excretes potassium
What does antidiuretic hormone do?
Regulates renal excretion of water but NOT salt

Ineffective communication (can’t say “I’m thirsty”) High percentage of water as body weight High fluid exchange ratio
How are older adults at risk for imbalance?
Decreased sensation of thirst
