- What are the differences between a DROP DOWN LIST and a POP UP MENU?
a. A POP UP MENU REQUIRES you to choose one of the options given, A DROP DOWN LIST lets you pick a choice OR ENTER YOUR OWN VALUE.
b. A DROP DOWN LIST works fine with THOUSANDS OF ITEMS in it, BECAUSE IT SCROLLS. A POP UP MENU is very cumbersome with more than 12 items.
c. You can choose from a DROP DOWN LIST USING THE KEYBOARD, but you have to use the mouse with the POP UP MENU.
- With a DROP DOWN LIST, how do you stop the list from flashing down every time you TAB past it?
Choose INCLUDE ARROW TO SHOW AND HIDE LIST, so that you HAVE to click on the arrow to see the list.

What does this mean?
It puts an EDIT as the LAST ITEM ON THE DROP DOWN LIST, which allows users to modify the list of choices.
- How can you tell the difference between a DROP DOWN LIST and a POP UP MENU?
A POP UP MENT has a THREE DIMENSIONAL LOOK, with shadows on two sides.
- Why can’t you edit a VALUE LIST through a POP UP MENU?
You can. Kind of. Turn on the “INCLUDE ‘OTHER…’ ITEM TO ALLOW ENTRY OF OTHER VALUES.” This puts your value in the FIELD BUT DOES NOT ADD IT TO THE VALUE LIST.
