FileMaker has a special FORMATTING dialog box for TEXT, NUMBER, DATE, TIME, and CONTAINER.
TIMESTAMP is a DATE and a TIME together, so it is formatted with those options.
Select the NUMBER FIELD and
FORMAT–>
NUMBER.
Use it when the field will have two choices only, like YES and NO.
a. SHOW NON ZERO AS, which shows up if the field has a NON ZERO VALUE, such as 1 or 5 or 34. This may be designated as a YES.
b. SHOW ZERO AS shows only when there’s a 0 in the field. This may be designated as a NO.
FORMAT–>
NUMBER:
FORMAT AS DECIMAL–>
DO NOT DISPLAY NUMBER IF ZERO.
It is limited to five characters, BUT YOU CAN TYPE ANYTHING YOU WANT INTO IT, i.e., “boxes” so what is displayed is ‘100 boxes.”
Practically limitless. You can have a spelled out date in the Header and a shortened date in the Body.
There is NOT TIMESTAMP option, you format the DATE with the FORMAT–>DATE and the TIME with the FORMAT–>TIME command.
FORMAT BOTH THE DATE AND THE TIME PARTS.
If either is set to “LEAVE DATA FORMATTED AS ENTERED,” FileMaker will NOT FORMAT THE FIELD.
Making a CUSTOM FORMAT with " at" (space-a-t) in the LAST PLACEHOLDER, so you get: Fri, May 6, 2005 at 12:30pm and NOT Fri, ay 6, 2005at12:30pm
