BUTTON TOOL. In addition to a regular button, you can designate any OBJECT in the layout to be a BUTTON.
FileMaker ALWAYS selects a RECORD when you CLICK it in LIST VIEW.
And when you SWITCH LAYOUTS, it always stays on the same record NO MATTER WHICH LAYOUT YOU USE.
a. LAYOUT: select TEXT OBJECT (MERGE FIELD).

c. Choose GO TO LAYOUT button action, click OK.
Format the OBJECT so that it looks like a LINK, using blue font and underlining it (as is prevalent in internet links).

8. FORMAT--> BUTTON: BUTTON SET UP dialog box: GO TO FIELD. What does this do?
It takes you to a specific field by choosing it in the OPTIONS area SPECIFY button.
for TEXT, NUMBER, DATE, TIME, and TIMESTAMP FIELDS, this option tells FileMaker to SELECT THE CONTENTS OF THE FIELD so users can just start typing to replace it.
It tells FileMaker to PERFORM the field content; play the movie or sound, open the file, etc.
