FILTRATE
The liquid that passes through the filter paper and collects in the conical flask
residue
the insoluble solid that cannot pass through the filter paper
HOW DOES FILTRATION WORK?
Filtration is used to separate an INSOLUBLE solid from a liquid.
Filtration cannot be used to separate a soluble solution - a mixture made by dissolving salt in water because the dissolved particles are very small and go through the holes in the filter paper
