True vs apparent ROM?
True - ROM that is observed at a specific joint and isolated to that joint
Apparent - ROM that is observed at a specific joint but also includes the movement of other joints
- e.g. use of lower back in hip extension
Def: Static, Dynamic, Ballistic, PNF stretching
Static: stretch held at, or close to, maximal tolerable length
Dynamic: Controlled movement through an active ROM
