“Flight Attendants should now be seated for T/O”
Seatbelt advisory when turning off seatbelt sign
Turning on seatbelt sign
Anticipated turbulence
Turbulence
10-15 min prior to descent

3.100 pg. 11
Must an aircraft taxiing be stopped if a PAX is up and/or standing?
Pilots do not have to stop taxiing or reject a T/O or landing when a passenger has stood up. However, do not BEGIN taxiing if passengers are not in their seat.
3.100 pg. 14
How charged must an EFB be prior to reporting for duty?
80%
How charged must your EFB prior to beginning an approach?
20%
What’s the minimum width can a runway be for 737 operations?
100’
5.100 pg. 1
When are T/O’s and landing prohibited?
Takeoffs and landings are prohibited when:
*Steady-state wind
velocity is > 50 kts.
*Crosswinds exceed limits
in fleet-specific manuals.
*Braking action is NIL or
the RWYCC is 0 on any
portion of the runway.
*Contaminated runway
preparation results in an
available prepared
surface width < 60’ (737)
*T/O’s, app’es, and
landings should not
be attempted when TS
are reported at or near
the airport unless RWY,
flight path, and missed
approach, are clear of
storms. Flights should
circumnavigate all TS and
associated hazards (e.g.,
hail, heavy rain,
microbursts, windshear,
turbulence).
*There is moderate or >
freezing rain.
*Severe icing is reported
by a similar type or larger
aircraft.
*If all runway lights are
inoperative, see 5.400,
RWY Lights Inoperative.
When flying with a FO who has not obtained 100 hours in aircraft type at Alaska, what landing restrictions exist? (unless paired with a check airman)
The Captain shall make all
landings when any of the following conditions apply:
*At special airports
*Contaminants on runway which could result in braking actions < GOOD
*Braking action is reported < GOOD
*The crosswind component > 15 kts
*Windshear reported in vicinity of airport
*Vis. at or < 3/4 sm or RVR is at < 4000
When shall an LTP be briefed?
Anytime the LDA is < 7000 ft
or
For any runway with < GOOD braking action.
Is there any other way to figure an LTP without calculating it?
It is acceptable to use 1000 ft as the LTP in lieu of calculation.
Is there ever a time when a specific auto brake setting must be used?
When braking action is anticipated to be less than GOOD and the Landing Distance Available (LDA) is less than 7000 ft, the maximum selectable autobrake setting must be used if available.
When is the APU considered to have failed to start?
When the APU experiences 3 failed, consecutive starts
or
QRH procedures preclude subsequent start attempts
What is the requirement to disconnect the towbar and to taxi the aircraft after pushback?
Under no circumstances will the towbar be disconnected without confirming the aircraft brakes have been set. The aircraft will not be moved without a waveoff.
FOM 5.200 pg. 15
Can the APU ever be left on and unattended?
*If external power and/or air are not available, the APU may be left running
unattended for passenger comfort, or, in coordination with Maintenance, for
aircraft reliability (i.e., to prevent potable water/lavatory freezing when aircraft is
left unattended in freezing temperatures). No “face to face” hand-off is required.
*Ramp and Maintenance crews are trained to handle APU emergencies.
*Flight Crews inbound on the last flight of the day, or anticipating any
extended ground times (greater than 45 minutes with a crew change) should
coordinate with the inbound station on the use of the APU if external electric
power and/or air are not available.
*If in doubt, complete the SECURE checklist and shut down the APU prior to
leaving the aircraft.
FOM Sec: 5.100 Page: 5
When is dual acknowledgement from both CA and FO required?
Runway crossing
Hold short
Line up and wait
Cleared for takeoff
Cleared to Land
(parking brake set)
Is maintenance action required after a towbar fails during pushback?
(Airbus/MAX)
If the towbar fails (including shear pin) or becomes detached during pushback, a Maintenance inspection of the nose gear area and a Maintenance Logbook entry shall be accomplished prior to departure.
(NG)
If the towbar becomes detached during pushback, no maintenance action is
required. If the towbar shear pin fails during pushback, the flight may be
continued with an “Information Only” logbook entry if a maintenance inspection is not needed. However, if aircraft damage is suspected by the Flight Crew or
reported by the pushback crew, enter a discrepancy in the logbook and contact
Maintenance.
What precautions must be made during low visibility taxi operations, i.e. reported visibility is below 1200 RV?
Any time, in the Captain’s judgment, the taxi visibility is marginal, the Flight Crew shall:
*Perform the Before Takeoff Checklist with the
aircraft stopped and the
parking brake set.
*Devote maximum
attention to scanning
outside while taxiing. Do
not perform any duties
un related to taxiing until
stopped and the parking
brake is set.
*Turn on all exterior lights
except for landing lights
while the aircraft is in
motion; lights usage
should be modified as
necessary to reduce glare
and improve visibility.
*Refer to Jeppesen Low
Visibility Taxi Routes
when SMGCS procedures
are in effect.
*Crosscheck aircraft heading with taxi routing and reference signs to verify position.
*If the tower is equipped with ASDE (Airport Surveillance Detection
Equipment), consider requesting “progressive taxi.”
*If, in the Captain’s judgment, the safety of continued taxi is questionable,
request a FOLLOW ME vehicle or tow.
FOM Section: 5.300 pg: 4
When is it required that that CA makes the T/O?
Anytime the visibility is 1/4 SM vis.
or
< 1600 RVR
What is the separation distance and time when taking off behind a Large aircraft and a Super aircraft?
Large: 5 miles, 2 minutes
Super: 7 miles, 3 minutes
Can a T/O be made in heavy snow?
Yes, provided that the aircraft was deiced with undiluted type IV fluid
and
A successful contamination check is completed within 5 minutes of T/O
What is the minimum altitude to make a turn after takeoff?
Minimum alt for a turn after takeoff is 400’
EO procedures with an immediate turn is described as a turn at 50’ AGL
In VMC, a turn prior to 400’ but not <50’ AGL is allowed with PIC accepting responsibility for terrain separation.
When must coordination with dispatch be accomplished regarding enroute flight planning or cruise altitude?
Coordinate with dispatch if:
lateral deviation is ≥ 100 nm from planned route
Altitude deviation is ≥ 4,000’ from planned cruise altitude
Any action that will delay the flight by > 15 minutes (or change ETA by +/- 15 minutes
Can an Autoland be made when landing overweight?
No, acceptable autoland performance cannot be ensured at weight > AFM limits
During a “quick landing analysis” what distance and braking action will be guaranteed up to max landing weight?
With flaps 30 or 40
With braking action good or better:
LDA ≥ 7,000’
Temp ≤ 35°C
Elevation ≤ 4,000’
Headwind ≥ 0 kts
OR
LDA ≥ 8,000’
Temp ≤ 35°C
Elevation ≤ 4,000’
Headwind ≤ 15 kts
Section 6.100 pg. 10
When MUST a RWYCC (Runway Condition Code) of 2 be used?
When landing on:
