(b) disagreement between the start lever position and the valve position - extra: consider if in the sim the engine doesnt start after levers to idle-look up - maybe the eng valve or spar valve didnt open

Notes.

• controlled by Eng Start Lever or Eng Fire Switch
• during Eng start - they go BRT to OUT
• this valve is the HPSOV on the HMU/FMU
• requires fuel pressure to open

Extinguished: Eng Fuel valve is OPEN

Illuminated (Blue):

• Bright: valve in transit or disagreement (between valve and either Eng Start Lever or Eng Fire Switch)
• Dim: Eng Fuel SOV CLOSED

Question 2

SPAR VALVE CLOSED Light

What powers this light?

Answer 2

DC powered from the Switched Hot Batt Bus.

Notes.

• controlled by Eng Start Lever or Eng Fire Switch
• during Eng start - they go BRT to OUT
• this valve is mounted on front spar and has backup NICAD battery to ensure it can always close
• this valve shows the position of the spar valve

Extinguished: SPAR valve is OPEN

Illuminated (Blue):

• Bright: valve in transit or disagreement (between valve and either Eng Start Lever or Eng Fire Switch)
• Dim: SPAR SOV CLOSED

FUEL TEMP INDICATOR

Answer 3

• indicates fuel temp in the #1 TANK
• Needs electrical power (AC)
• with no electrical power - the pointer goes off scale (negative side of indicator)
• if you approach freezing point of fuel - consider descending OR increasing MACH number

FILTER BYPASS Lights

What can cause the filter bypass light to come on? (1sp)

Answer 4

Extinguished: fuel filter operating normally

Illuminated (Amber): impending fuel filter bypass (due to a contaminated filter)

[1sp - means the fuel is bypassing the filter - means the filter is dirty, clogged or contaminated - (remember if this light is ON - DO NOT open the crossfield - you do not want to contaminate the other side)]

CROSSFEED SELECTOR and LIGHT

What is the power source for the crossfeed valve? (1sp)

Notes.

• crossfeed allows single TANK to supply BOTH engines

SELECTOR.

• controls fuel crossfeed valve
• CLOSED: isolated Eng 1 & 2 fuel feed lines
• OPEN: connects Eng 1 & 2 fuel feed lines

VALVE OPEN LIGHT.

• Extinguished: Crossfeed valve is CLOSED
• Illuminated (blue):
  
  • BRIGHT: in transit or disagreement (with crossfeed selector)
  • DIM: Valve is OPEN

LOW PRESSURE Lights - Center Tank

• DUAL CHANNEL / RECALL LIGHT FEATURE

Illuminated (Amber):

• fuel pump output pressure is low (and the switch is ON)

Extinguished:

• fuel pump output pressure is normal OR Fuel Pump switch is OFF

Notes.

• lights are ARMED with pump switch ON
• with BOTH pumps ON - it takes BOTH LOW PRESS LTS to illuminate to trigger a MC & FUEL light
• with only 1 LOW PRESS light - the MC and FUEL will only illuminate on recall
• with 1 CTR pump OFF - if the opposite CTR tank LOW PRESS light illuminates you will get the MC & FUEL LT
• if the center pumps are off = NO LIGHTS

FUEL PUMP Switches (Main & Center)

If this light comes on - what does this mean?

** Remember - if any low pressure light comes on - on either fuel or hydraulics - ALWAYS look at the QTY - no qty - no pressure will let you know if its qty problem or a pump problem]

ON: activates fuel pump (2 pumps per tank) - AC powered

OFF: deactivates fuel pump

Center tank limitations.

• only turn on centers if there is more than 1000# and only if someone on flt deck to monitor

LOW PRESSURE Light - Main Tanks

Notes.

• the MAIN TANK LP lights are ALWAYS armed (unlike CNTR LP lights)
• Pumps are FWD and AFT
• 2 lights in SAME TANK = MC & FUEL
• 1 light in a MAIN TANK = MC & FUEL on Recall only

Illuminated (Amber):

• fuel output pressure is low (or pump is off)

Extinguished:

• fuel output pressure is normal
