An investigation into the extent to which Tonbridge Town centre is in need of regeneration.

What concepts/prior knowledge will you be using?
Urban deprivation, urban change, regeneration is injecting money into deprived areas.
Hypothesis
The town centre will be in need of regeneration to a high extent and there will be several deprived areas and inequalities in development, because the local council was already planning for a regeneration scheme. Over 50% of ppl surveyed will think it needs regeneration.
Why is this location suitable?
The topic of the enquiry - about urban deprivation and urban areas
Distance - V close to school so more time to collect data
Accessibility - walkable, safe area
Suitability - provides data needed to prove hypothesis since there are ppl to survey, shops etc
Risk assessment
Getting lost as it is an unfamiliar place (stay in groups and use a map always). Speaking to dangerous strangers (travel in groups and have a phone, teachers at checkpoints). Traffic and busy roads (don’t cross roads freely, only cross at designated crossings).

Photographs, Land-use mapping, Questionnaire survey, Environmental Quality Survey (EQS).
Secondary data
OS map to plan systematic sampling, us as a base for land-use mapping, and set up checkpoints for meetings. Council’s website to investigate plans for regeneration and previous stats/research.
