• Assemble people in a clear area and stay with them

• Ensure that they don’t take anything or contaminate the scene
• Tell them not to discuss what happen, separate if possible

• Protect all exhibits
• Remove wandering animals
• If any movement record in log/register

• Ensure nothing is touched or moved in the scene

• Establish boundaries
• Appoint scene guard with clear instruction
• Use reliable civilian until further police staff arrived

• Preserving a scene will be reliant on your reconnaissance
• Appreciation to ensure the scene is preserved for the formal scene examination.
• Must ensure that main areas of examination and any possible exhibits are protected.

• Appreciation carried out and take immediate action
• Gain info
• Ensure initial actions are attended to
