What is a line?
A line that which has length, can be straight or curved.
What is a vertical line?
Straight line that is perpendicular to the horizontal line
What is a perpendicular line?
A line that is at a right angle to another line
What is an angle?
An opening between two straight lines that meet one another
What is a right angle?
Angle made by the meeting of two straight lines perpendicular to each other
An acute angle is?
An angle that is less than 90°
An obtuse angle is?
Angle greater than a right angle 90°
A triangle is?
Surface bounded by three straight sides, the sum of its angles equal 180°
Equilateral triangle has?
All sides equal
Scalene triangle is?
Triangle in which the three sides are different lengths
Isosceles triangle is?
A triangle with two equal sides
Right triangle has?
One 90° angle
What is an ellipse?
Plane surface bounded by a curved line described by two points in such a manner that the sum of the distances from every point in the curve to the two fixed points, or foci is always the same
Types of cones?
Right cone
Oblique
Scalene
Frustrum
Truncated
An apex is?
The uppermost point where two lines drawn upwards and inwards from a baseline meet
What’s baseline?
The bottom edge of the elevation view
What happens when a baseline is projected out and measured?
Becomes the stretch out line (finish line)
What’s a cheek?
The flat side of a rectangular elbow or fitting
What are element lines?
Imaginary lines used to divide an object into sections when developing patterns for round or irregular shaped projects
What’s half pattern?
Generally a gross pattern that represents half of the pattern to be made, to help save space with large patterns
What’s the heel and throat?
Outside of the elbow is the heel and the inside of the elbow is the throat
What is layout?
The process of measuring and marking lines on metal that are to be cut, drilled, or bent
What’s oblique?
To have a slanting position that is neither vertical or horizontal (anything not 90°)
What is parallel line development?
A system or lines drawn parallel and perpendicular to one another, used for solids that have a constant cross section and are equal in shape and size throughout their length
