Duties and responsibilities of the JE
a. Obtain permission of the EOW prior to leaving the Main Machinery Room for any reason.
b. Make a round ofengineering spaces prior to relieving the watch. Normal watch relief will take place on the half-hour
c. Make hourly rounds on operating machinery that is not monitored by MPCMS.
d. Check local operating pressures and temperatures on equipment with remote indicators that are OOC as directed by the EOW.
e. Prepare equipment for operation using EOP’s.
f. Keep bilge fluids to a minimum by pumping them into the oily water tank.
g. Add oil to machinery as necessary.
h. Wipe down machinery, secure potential missile hazards, and police all machinery spaces for oil, rags, and trash.
i. While on watch, maintain communications with the EOW at all times.
