Preflight Taxi
Set throttle to 1200 RPM, lean mixture to achieve a slight rise in RPM (not more than 50 RPM)
Takeoff Below 3000’ MSL
Full Rich
Takeoff Above 3000’ MSL
During full power static run-up, lean for slight increase in RPM, then one full turn to enrichen mixture
Climb
When OAT is less than 80° F, lean mixture to indicate one line above the green arc on the fuel flow gauge. When OAT is more than 80° F, leave the mixture full rich. Leave climb setting until cruise unless engine roughness is experienced
Cruise
Lean to proper fuel flow per the POH. At cruise power, EGTs should be approximately 1400°. Monitor CHTs to ensure they remain below 435°
Descent
From cruise, enrichen the mixture one-half turn for each 1000’ of altitude change to compensate for increasing air density.
Before Landing
Full Rich or as appropriate for the destination airport
Postflight Taxi
Set throttle to 1200 RPM, lean mixture to achieve a slight rise in RPM (not more than 50 RPM)
