Q

How did Lamarck explained his theory of Evolution

A

Life starts like a simple ladder from the very beginning and then it keeps getting complex as it keeps going up and he
CALLED it Linear and Progressive

Basically he said that organism change in response to their environment and pass on those changes to their offsprings.

Q

What was the difference between Darwin and Lamarck’ s theory?

A

Lamarck was basically claiming that if an individual uses their body in response to their environment they adapt it and pass it to their offsprings; for instance Girraffes used their neck to eat food and thus they necks got longer and ultimately passed it to their offspring

However, Darwin came and proposed the theory of natural selection and said that they agree with individuals changing overtime, but they not with adaptation part of it; he refuted it by saying that various individuals born and the ones that are successful survive and reproduce and thus this way everyhting evolves.

Q

What is developmental homology?

A

It refers to to embryonic structure that are shared between different species.

Like: tails and gill pouches are found in embryos of fish, chickens, humans, and cats.

Q

What are the 4 Darwin’s postulates?

A

Individuals in population has different traits.
Some are heritable and passed to their offspring.
More offspring that survival.
Advantageous ones has higher living chance.
