Classify bullets.
Classify Bullets according to Mechanical Construction
A. Lead bullets- are bullets made of lead or alloys.
B. Jacketed bullets-are bullets made of a core of (r) lead covered by a jacket of harder material such as gilding metal, a copper-alloy of approximately 90% copper and 10% zinc. (slightly harder than lead bullet)
• can produce high percentage of Friction resulting to high temperature
• much faster
C. Synthetic Bullets- made of plastic plasticine and other composition/ sand polymer mixed
•soft or smoother when fired : 12% less friction | 19% less heat
Classify Bullet according to Use.
A. Ball Bullets- are bullets that have soft lead cores inside a jacket and are used against personnel only.
B. Armor Piercing Bullets- are bullets that have hardened steel cores and are fired at vehicles and other armored targets in general.
• This is an example of jacketed bullets
C. Tracer Bullets- are bullets contain a compound at the base usually similar to barium nitrates, which is set on fire when the bullets are projected.
D. Incendiary Bullets- are bullets that contains a mixture, such as phosphorous or other material that can be set on fire by impact
E. Explosive (Fragmentary) Bullets- are bullets that contains a high charge of explosive. The use of this high explosive bullets is usually limited to 20mm and above.
