Organizational Arrangements are instructional arrangements for
People, time, space, and equipments
-should have specific purposed in mind when making organizational arrangements

Arranging People
1) Individual
2) Partner
3) Small Group (3-6)
4) Large Group (seven- more)
5) Whole Class
Many teachers put students into groups that are:
Too large
-creates bad scenarios when people are standing around waiting for a turn
A few bad exceptions for inactive students
1) limited equipment and/ or space
2) Nature of the students requires greater teacher monitoring
3) Safety concerns with too many at once
What’s the worst grouping a teacher can make:
CAPTAINS
Ability Grouping makes motor skill development
More efficient
-picks the best -puts them together
-picks the worst- puts them together
Heterogenous Grouping:
Mixing all levels of skill together, not grouping based off their skill
-can be good in cooperative learning and peer teaching, but usually better to group by ability
Gender Grouping
Grouping students in a co-ed class into male and female
-discouraged unless physical differences produce risk
Ethnicity Groupings
Ethnic minority situations should never be excluded/ isolated within groups or as a group
Interest Grouping
Times when student interest can dictate how groups are formed
Social Compatibility Groupings
Due to behaviour issues or antagonistic relationships, individuals can or can’t be on the same team/ group
OR
-can’t be competing against each other
Size with Groupings
Grouping according to physical size
-fighters should be put with someone in same weight class
Chance with Groupings
Random methods of grouping can be used and effective especially to get students to work with others they don’t usually work with
