Elements of a Good Lesson Plan

A

Objectives: Clear statements of what students will be able to do by the end of the lesson.

Instructional materials: All tools used for teaching, such as textbooks, slides, handouts, realia, or digital devices.

Stages: The steps of the lesson.
For reading, listening, speaking, and writing, teachers use PWP (Pre–While–Post).
For grammar, vocabulary, and functions, teachers use PPP (Presentation–Practice–Production).

Procedures: The activities and steps the teacher follows to deliver the lesson and help students learn.

Strategies/techniques: The teaching methods used to explain content. Teachers choose strategies that suit their students.

Mode of work & interaction: How students work—teacher to class, pair work, group work—depending on the activity.

Time: Planning how long each stage will take to ensure the lesson fits the available class time.
