Lighting for exit or entry?

A

Backlighting from Fresnel behind door- 70% intensity- soft yellow

Side lighting- creates chiaroscuro

Impact: dramatizes the impact of entry of exit

For example; if its all eyes on door and the constable enters (its underwhelming- comic effect) yet if its pissani rushing out- highlights movement

A

Special: Profile, hard edged beam on window at 80% intensity (decide cue based on suitability)

If its a character who’s been found out/ accused: freeze frame, snap cue on character!

top lighting- ominous effect- draws audiences’ attention

How would you create the beaucrocratic effect of office?

A

1) General sepia wash on stage gel- 60% intensity
2) Wide lens profile with soft edged beam in white gel- 70% intensity over desk

Impact: generate harsh, draining light (perhaps synonymous w/ harsh bureaucracy of police force)

Special- flickering on and off
