Q

Militarism

A

The idea that a nation should increase the size of their army and military in order to protect or promote its interests. For example Germany and France increased their army to 2 million and 1 million . Britain had a huge navy so Germany increased the amount of ships they had to catch up with them. This increased militarism.

Q

Nationalism

A

Nationalism is a strong attachment to a particular country or nation. Many countries ruled by empires such as Britain, France and Germany wanted independence. Serbia which recently gained independence from the ottoman empire, sought to gain control over the other Slavic people in Bosnia that they shared their culture with. This led to the formation of terrorist groups like the black hand

Q

Which country do u think was the strongest in ww1

A

Germany was likely the strongest individual country, leading in both internal population (68,000,000) and the total number of soldiers (750,000) listed. These figures highlight a strong combination of manpower and industrial base.

Q

Which alliance or group of countries do you think was stronger

A

I think the stronger alliance is the triple entente because they had a significantly larger combined population of approximately 607,000,000 people in their countries and empires, compared to the Triple Alliance’s population total of 154,000,000. This vast population and imperial reach suggested greater long-term access to manpower, raw materials, and financial resources, which were critical advantages in a prolonged war.

Q

Did king George V and Kaiser wilheim have any real reason to be jealous of eachother

A

Yes, they had reasons to be jealous, primarily over the size and wealth of their respective empires and military strength. Britain (King George V) had a vast empire and a massive navy, which was a point of pride and power. Germany (Kaiser Wilhelm) had a much smaller empire and fewer ships, but was rapidly industrializing and increasing its military spending. This created a mutual jealousy toward each other
