What would you do if you noticed high temperatures in the engine cooling system?
If the cooling system temperature rises, the first step is to reduce the engine load and check the cooling water levels. I would then inspect for any blockages in the sea water intake or heat exchanger and ensure that the cooling pumps are working correctly. If the problem persists, I will examine the thermostat for malfunctions and the condition of the impellers in the pumps. Depending on the findings, I’d either correct the issue or escalate it to the Chief Engineer
