Summarize Ch. 36 (The Quarter-Deck)
Tells Starbuck to bring the entire crew behind the quarter-deck. Ahab declares that any man who spots a whale with 3 stitches in its side and a crooked jaw will receive an ounce of gold from him. Daggoo, Tashtego, and Queequeg all question if the white whale is Moby-Dick, with the white tail before he dives, a “curious” spout, and uniquely white skin. Ahab confirms it is true. The gold is nailed to the mast of the ship. Almost the entire crew celebrate, and are eager to find the White Whale. They drink from their goblets and chant “Death to Moby-Dick!”. Starbuck prays for the men; he is not interested in Ahab’s quest and wants to commence a regular whaling trip.
