Q

What happens when a container of water is pierced at three point of varying height?

A

The further the hole is below the surface of the water the greater the force of the jet leaving the water bottle. So the water would shoot out further.

Q

Why does a water dam have a thicker bade than top?

A

The greater the depth of the water the greater the pressure of the water against the dam wall. This greater pressure requires a greater structure to safely hold the water back

Q

How do straws work?

A

When you suck on a straw you remove air from inside it creating lower pressure (atmospheric pressure) is stronger and pushes the liquid up the straw and in your mouth this happens because for liquids there is more high pressure to low pressure.

Q

What is atmospheric pressure?

A

Air pressure is caused by the force of air gas particles bumping into things ( weight of the air particle pressing things down)
Air pressure is equal in all directions

Q

What is archimedes principle?

A

An object totally or partially immersed in a fluid is subject to an upward force equal in magnitude to the weight of fluid it displaces.
