Duties of the OOW with regard to Pilot
–Pilot’s presence doesn’t relieve Master or OOW of:
-duties for the ship’s safety.
–Master and Pilot shall exchange information:
-navigation procedures,
-local conditions
-ship’s characteristics.
–Master +/ OOW co-operate:
-closely with pilot
-maintain checking ship’s position and movement.
–If in doubt, seek clarification from the pilot.
-if doubt still exists, notify Master
immediately and take whatever action is necessary before the Master arrives.
