-the government and most newspapers began a propaganda campaign.in the first year of the war 110 different posters were produced encouraging people to join the army or help the war effort in some way

-we know that the government took the propaganda campaigns seriously due to them setting up a department of information ,lord beaverbrock who owned the daily express newspaper newspaper was appointed minister of information.

A

-the propaganda campaign showed germans as “huns” and uncivilised people whilst british people were manipulated or invented to present them in a bad light.

A

-the propaganda campaign was succesful and is shown through different reasons.

-the royal family changed its name from saxe caburg gotha to windsor.

-at christmas people refused to sing german carols including silent night.

-shops with german names were looted.

-all german citizens living in britian were arrested for as “aliens” and imprisoned for for the duration of the war, in case they were spies
