Gyrus
The ridges or folds on the surface of the cerebral cortex.
Sulcus
The grooves or fissures that separate the gyri on the cerebral cortex.
Lobe
Major divisions of the cerebral cortex (frontal, parietal, temporal, occipital).
Broca’s Area
A region in the frontal lobe associated with speech production.
Wernicke’s Area
Located in the temporal lobe, important for language comprehension.
Motor Cortex
The area in the frontal lobe is responsible for planning and executing voluntary movements.
Sensory Cortex
The region in the parietal lobe is responsible for processing sensory information.
Association Areas
Regions of the cortex involved in integrating and interpreting sensory and motor information.
Parietal Lobe
Processes sensory information related to touch, temperature, and pain. It also plays a role in spatial awareness. ( top and back of brain)
Motor Cortex
Located in the frontal lobe, it’s responsible for planning, controlling, and executing voluntary movements.
Occipital Lobe
Situated at the back of the brain, it’s mainly responsible for visual processing, allowing us to interpret and understand visual stimuli.
Temporal Lobe
Located on the sides of the brain, it’s primarily involved in processing auditory information and is also important for memory and language comprehension.
Frontal Lobe
Involved in executive functions like decision-making, problem-solving, planning, and voluntary movement.
