Not unless they’re a s63 -they can if they have been specifically authorised under s63(1)(B) or have been appointed as an acting SSGT under s63(1)(a)

A sergeant who is just covering for the shift etc would not be able to.

A

1 - a driver indicates by their actions and/ or by continuing their manner of driving that they have no intention of stopping following a direction to do so.
2. The enforcement officer decides to continue to follow behind the vehicle with a view of reporting on it progress or stopping it.

Definition includes - pursuits at all speeds and over any distance or terrain and does not necessarily involve speeds in excess of posted speed limits.
