When is Destination Alternate Required?
- Not at R, A, F, or P airport or
- If DEST & ALT wx marginal, list 2nd alt
- 1-2-3 rule
OpSpec A012:
- 1-1-3 rule: CAT I
- 1-1-2 rule: CAT II/III
- No TS (PROB or TEMP) +/-1h
Is the Alternate Legal?
- Must be R, A, F, or P airport
- Mins cannot be NA
- Use one and two approach facility method for mins
Alternate Mins with one Facility
One approach facility:
- Add 400 ft to mins
- Add 1sm to visibility
Alternate Mins CAT II and CAT III
319-321 Cat II/III:
- CAT II: 300 ft and RVR 4000/1200m (3/4sm)
- CAT III: 200 ft and RVR 1800/550m (1/2sm / 800m) (outside US: 700m)
Alternate Mins with two Facilities
Two approach facilities:
- Add 200 ft to highest mins
- Add 1/2 to the higher mins
Takeoff Weight increase Dispatch Notification Requirements
- Actual TOW greater than flight plan + 2000 lbs
- Actual TOW exceeds the M1 ENRTE ATOG (Method 1)
- Call DD is displayed on final weight manifest
