Q

What is the difference between a ‘voxel’ and a ‘pixel’?

A

Voxels are volume elements - small cubical segments of the body being imaged (aka the ‘imaged matrix’)

Pixels are picture elements - small squares of variable brightness on a flat monitor that correlate to a voxel

A voxel associated with greater signal intensity/x-ray attenuation will be displayed as a brighter/whiter pixel
