17
Q

What is anteflexed

A
  • uterus tipped anteriorly relative to the axis of the cervix
18
Q

Whats anteverted uterus

A
  • cervix tipped anteriorly relative to the axis of vagina
19
Q

What are the most two common positions of uterus

A

Anteverted and anteflexed

20
Q

Describe the position of the ovaries

A
  • Almond sized and amped , located laterally in the pelvic cavity
  • develop on the posterior abdominal wall and move onto the lateral wall of the pelvis
22
Q

Whats do ovaries do

A

Secret oestrogen and progesterone in response to pituitary hormones

23
Q

What are the stages of fertilization and menstruation

A
  • ova develops in ovaries
-each menstrual cycle , 1 ovum is released from the surface of ovary into peritoneal cavity
-ovum is gathered by fimbriae into infundibulum of uterine tube
Moved along uterine tube by cillia
-during menstruation , an unfertilized ovum is expelled by contractions of the myometrium
24
Q

Where does fertilization normally occur

25
What’s ectopic pregnancy what’s potential emergency
- fertilized ovum implants out with the uterine cavity - danger of hemorrhage (loss of blood from damaged blood vessels )
26
27
Female sterilization
TUBUAL LIGATION - both uterine tubes -clipped , cut and (cauterized - electric current used to burn and seal the fallopian tubes shut , creating scar tissues that block the passage of an egg prevent fertilization ) -blocks the lumen
28
Stages of testes development
-dusting development the testis originate on the posterior wall of the abdominal cavity -by birth they have descended into the scrotum - through the anterior abdominal wall -inguinal canal -th tube that sperm pass through follows the testis into the scrotum - the vas (vas deferens) -the vas connects the testis to (almost ) the urethra
29
Sperm produced in …. Passed to …. Then to ….
Seminiferous tubules -temp -1degrees C below core body temp Rete testis Then to head of epididymis -epididymis becomes vas deferens
30
What three things the spermatic cord contains
-vas deferens -Testicular artery -pampiniform plexus vein (more complex )
31
What’s titration of testis and what does it cause
-twisting of spermatic cord - distrusts blood supply -Severe pain -Danger of testicular necrosis ( death of testicular tissue )
32
What are the four accessory reproductive organs in male reproductive system
- the vas deferens -Seminal glands -Prostate gland -penis
33
Testes located where
Scrotum
34
Sperm develops where
Testes
35
Sperm pass from testis via what
Vas deferens
36
Each vas deferens lies within the
Spermatic cord
37
38
Each spermatic cord passes through
-Anterior abdominal wall -within the inguinal canal to reach the pelvic cavity
39
How does vas deferens produce seminal fluid
- within the pelvis each vas deferens connects with the duct from seminal gland (produces seminal fluid ) to form an ejaculatory duct containing semen
40
Whats semen
Sperm and seminal fluid Produced in seminal gland
41
How does the ejaculatory ducts drain. Into the urethra
- right and left ejaculatory ducts join together within the prostate gland (immediately inferior to the bladder ) and drain into the urethra -the urethra opens at the external urethral meatus of the penis
