over-arching theme
The first governing document of the colonies in a post-british society. Out of fear of another tyrannical rule from a dictator, they made sure the states had much more power than the federal government. The alliance between the states was weak at best, and was worsened by the lack of similarities (with laws, currency, etc.) The articles also left out both a federal judiciary and executive branch. Leaving a unicameral legislative.
