Daylight or poor light - Light or fluorescent
Dark - Reflective clothing (belt, arm or ankle bands) ti increase visibility
Regulations approved helmets (can reduce risk of head injury in certain circumstances)

Should not pass a horse on its left, horses also are startled if passing without warning
